Boston 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Bid
WOO were appointed in June 2014 as Lead Advisors for the Boston 2024 Summer Olympic Games bid, with the role of developing the overall masterplan and specific concept design for key venues, in collaboration with local design firm Elkus Manfredi Architects.
The Boston bid was selected by the US Olympic Committee in January 2015, beating Washington, Los Angeles and San Francisco to the right to represent the United States in its bid to host the 2024 edition of the Games.
The WOO team were able to establish a strategic masterplan for the overall event, maximising the use of existing facilities, creating key iconic moments, and ultimately providing the blue print for a truly spectator and fan driven Games experience.
Additionally, multiple options for adaptive use of new facilities including demountable football stadia, temporary arenas, and transformational legacy stadia designs were developed to accommodate both Olympic and Paralympic Games and future sports uses.
